HELENSBURGH’s Gordon Reid is out to follow up his Wimbledon doubles success as he goes goes in search of his first British Open men’s singles title next week.

The 25 year-old contests the fifth of six Super Series events at the UNIQLO Wheelchair Tennis Tour in Nottingham which gets under way on Tuesday.

All of the world’s top 10 male players will be among a stellar lineup for the event, which is one of the top tier of wheelchair tennis events outside the Grand Slams.

Reid was runner-up in the men’s singles in both 2012 and 2014 and was a semi-finalist last year.

Meanwhile, he will hope to continue his fine doubles form alongside Alfie Hewett as they once again team up and look to regain the title they won in 2015.

The duo are fresh off another Wimbledon doubles victory, winning at SW19 for the second consecutive year earlier this month.

A 6-7 (5/7), 7-5, 7-6 (7/3) victory over the French pair of Stephane Houdet and Nicolas Peifer saw Reid and Hewett retain their title at the 2,000 capacity Court Three.

Last year’s final was played on the far smaller Court 17, but the huge public reaction to Reid and Hewett’s triumph prompted Wimbledon to find the match a larger home in a move seen as a positive step for wheelchair tennis.
