RHU Amateurs suffered a major blow ahead of their Scottish Amateur Cup fifth round tie this weekend after one of their players suffered a serious injury.

Goalkeeper Craig Gemmell was carried off during the club’s Douglas Smith League Cup defeat to Stenhousemuir Community AFC on Saturday - and it was later confirmed that the keeper had sustained a suspected broken Achilles.

Gordon Brodie’s men had led the tie 2-0 thanks to a Shaun Wallace double, only for the home side to secure a second round place with goals from Jude Smith, Jamie Forrester and Jack Donaldson.

A club spokesperson said: “We lost three very sloppy goals and have plenty to work on.
