This Saturday, Helensburgh Golf Club will be holding a Scramble competition to raise funds for the RNLI. Teams of four players will take part.

Helensburgh Ladies played their first team match in the Mail on Sunday National Golf Classic on Sunday, February 28.

The team of Angie MacFarlane, Claire Harper, Babs Robertson, Gemma Canham and June Haggarty won 4&1 against Buchanan Castle Ladies and will play Dumbarton Ladies in the next round.

The Ladies' Opening Social and 11-hole competition took place last week. 21 ladies played a Norwegian Stableford fun competition which Liz Inglis won with 25 points.

In the evening about 54 ladies listened to a report on what is planned for the year ahead and then lady captain Margaret Thompson, Lady Captain, introduced William Seenan, chief fundraiser for St Margaret of Scotland Hospice, which is the lady captain’s chosen charity for the year.

William advised on the work of the charity and that it has to raise about £41,000 a week to keep the hospice working. Afterwards the ladies enjoyed a delicious supper, a bunker competition and some funny stories.
