HELENSBURGH Golf Club held the third round of its BMW competition on Saturday with John Friel claiming victory.
This competition comprises of five stableford rounds over the season.
At the end, the player with the most points over the five rounds wins a BMW car for a week.
John scored 40 points, closely followed by Jon Simmons, also with 40, but lost out in the count back. David Kennedy, on 37 points, was third.
In the weekly Eclectic on July 25, Stuart Buchanan took the honours with 22 points followed by Bob Goodger and Alex McCallum both on 21 points.
The number two winners roll over to next week.
Paul Duerden is still setting the pace with 33 Eclectic points but has now been joined by Alan Walker at the top.
On a night which threw up some difficult conditions Helensburgh ladies travelled to Clober and earned a hard fought draw (2.5/2.5).
Gemma Canham and Margaret Thompson both won their matches and Carol Bews secured the draw through the worst of the weather.
Next week the team will face Hilton Park at home in the final match.
The Club’s McIntyre Seniors scored a 3-1 victory in their away match last Thursday against Lenzie.
The result has put the Helensburgh Seniors team at the top of the league.
