HELENSBURGH made it three wins on the bounce with a narrow win over MYF.

It was the visitors who dominated the first half but once again found it difficult to put away the chances when they came.

Steven Conner broke the deadlock when he managed to get on the end of a Black cross and directed the ball into the net from a diving header. The Burgh team continued to press but could not increase the lead.

The second half was much like the first with the visitors on top and becoming a bit frustrated at the lack of goals. The home team took this to heart and surprisingly found themselves level after a speculative effort found it’s way past the defence and an unsighted keeper.

With this shock to the system the Burgh team pressed on again and were quickly in front with Sean Addie driving in from midfield and dispatching a low drive into the net.

Coach Kris Milne was bemused by the performance: “For the third game in a row we have failed, despite the pressure we have had, to finish teams off.

“Luckily we have found a spirit that hasn’t been there for a few years and we are digging results out.

“Our lead up play is good and defensively we have been strong but in the final third we have let ourselves down.

“In saying that, it’s now three league wins which is good and allows us to grow in confidence.” Another away day next week sees the boys at Point Media as they go for a club record four league wins on the trot.
