A CLYNDER photographer is celebrating his picture-perfect success after scooping 14 awards at a national prize-giving ceremony.

Gordon Russell, who grew up in Dumbarton, was delighted with his haul at the Master Photographers Association (MPA) Scottish region annual awards on March 26 in Grangemouth.

Gordon runs his business, Angus and Amelia Photography, from a large studio near Rosneath and is regularly booked to cover weddings and events.

However, it was his skills in portraiture of new-borns, children and family groups that caught the eye of the MPA judges.

He said: “To say I was over the moon is an understatement! There were over 900 entries submitted this year to the awards, and to walk away with such recognition for my work is an honour.

“I’m qualified as a Master Photographer at licentiate level and after my success at the awards this year I’m looking to take my photography and business to the next level.

“I aim to qualify as an Associate of the Master Photographers Association.

“Many of my clients are from the Helensburgh and Dumbarton areas and the more I push myself and achieve qualifications in my field, the greater a service I can offer my clients.”

The MPA was established in 1952 and is one of the UK’s oldest associations for professional photographers with a focus on mentoring and training for the highest industry standards.
