A MAN has appeared in court charged with murder following the death of a teenager at a property in Helensburgh at the weekend.

Kevin Murray, 30, appeared in private at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on Monday after the body of 19-year-old Kirk Allan was discovered at a property in the town's Johnson Court on Saturday.

Mr Murray, of Helensburgh, is also charged with being in possession of an article which had a blade or was sharply pointed in a public place.

He made no plea or declaration and was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.

Mr Murray is expected to appear in court for a second time within eight days.

Police attended the Johnson Court property after receiving a report of concern for a person at 6.25am on July 25.

Anyone with information about Mr Allan's movements in the days leading up to his death, who has not already spoken to officers is asked to contact police by dialling 101, quoting incident 1006 of Saturday, July 25.
