CARDROSS residents were able to experience a little bit of normality again as a community Christmas market took place last Sunday afternoon.

Locals flocked to the socially-distanced event which took place at Cardross Inn, with everyone enjoying a BBQ, the kids meeting Santa and even an alcoholic beverage for the grown-ups.

Other local retailers also set up their stalls for festive shoppers to peruse.

Karen Bennie, sales and events manager at the Inn, told the Advertiser: “It was probably the wettest day of the year but it went really well. We weren’t sure how it was going to turn out and we had loads of positive feedback.

“I thanked all the stallholders yesterday and they were saying it’s testament to what people think of the community that they turned up, and we’re looking to do it again with the backing of the community as they were really happy about everything.

“Santa went down well, the kids got presents - it was nice to see some festivities happening after a weird year for everyone.

“People were going into the Inn and enjoying food and drinks, we had a BBQ and mulled wine. It was great to see everyone socially distance, they all said it was nice to see people again and be out and about doing something, which is what we wanted.”
