PLANS have been unveiled for an electric vehicle charging point at Helensburgh’s Morrisons supermarket.

Bosses at the Cardross Road store also want to install two parking bays for the charging point, which would be located in a far corner of its car park.

The application to Argyll and Bute Council also includes the installation of a new glazed screen and additional sliding doors at the main entrance to the supermarket, which opened in early December, seven months after the closure of the Waitrose store which formerly occupied the building.

The council is expected to deliver a decision on the application by early May, with the plans now available for scrutiny in the authority’s online planning portal.

A statement on the specifications for the proposed charging point said: “Electrical supplies will be obtained from new DNO (distribution network operator) on street connections and be an LV (low voltage) connection separate from the store supply.

“Metering will be in the adjacent feeder pillar and be owned and operated by ChargePoint Services. Installations will predominately be on the main car park.

“Locations have been selected based on the position of the point of connection to the LV network. DNO feeder pillars will be placed on the site boundary and cabling to the chargers will be buried underground from this point.

“Line marking and signage will be installed.”

Plans can be viewed through the council’s planning portal at argyll-bute.gov.uk using the code 21/00145/PP.
