A WOMAN has been arrested in Helensburgh on suspicion of assaulting police.
Officers were called to an address in East King Street at 12.10pm on Wednesday, July 14 after receiving a report that a 45-year-old woman was threatening to harm herself.
According to police, when officers arrived at the property they tried to engage with the woman to ensure her wellbeing.
One officer had to take hold of the woman, reportedly because of her erratic behaviour, but as he did so the woman lunged forward and allegedly tried to bite the officer.
The woman was told that she was under arrest, but allegedly tried to resist officers as they attempted to apply handcuffs.
The woman was secured and taken to Clydebank police office. A report has been sent to the procurator fiscal.
