HELENSBURGH FC are running a bus for players and supporters to their league championship decider this weekend.

Burgh travel to Kinlochleven on Saturday, June 1 for their final match of the season against league leaders South Lochaber Thistle.

Helensburgh clinched promotion last week after officials from the Greater Glasgow Premier AFL decided to award the local side the points from their home match against Baillieston in early April, which was abandoned by the referee after he was pushed by a Baillieston player.

Burgh were leading 5-3 at the time – and the decision to give them the points means they can no longer be caught in the race for promotion.

Helensburgh go into this Saturday's fixture off the back of a remarkable 14 league wins in a row – but South Lochaber are in great form too.

Since losing 3-2 to Helensburgh at Hermitage Academy on April 8 – a game Helensburgh won despite being without a recognised goalkeeper for more than half the match – Thistle have won four away games on the bounce and racked up an impressive goal difference in the process, winning 6-0 at Baillieston, 4-1 away to Glasgow University B, 5-0 against Strathclyde University and 5-2 at GSC Jordanhill.

And the Lochaber side climbed to the top of the table last Saturday with a 2-0 victory at home to Newshot.

Thistle now lead by one point going into Saturday’s match, and will clinch the championship if they avoid defeat, while only a win will do for Helensburgh.

The bus leaves Helensburgh pier car park at 11am on Saturday, returning in time for the presentation of the club’s end-of-season awards and the Champions League final on TV.
